Phoenix, Arizona Going Green ....

Phoenix company helps homeowners go green, save green

After experiencing success as a luxury-home builder for 30 years, Phoenix business owner Gary Gietz realized bigger was not always better.

Energy efficiency and downsizing in an effort to be fiscally and environmentally conscious was a trend Gietz saw coming three years ago when he started developing plans for Green Monster, a company that helps homeowners go green by selling and installing energy-saving products and facilitating the process.

"People wanted to save money, go into smaller homes. I realized the custom-home business would start contracting," said Gietz, who is Green Monster's CEO.

Gietz made a career change from the high-end housing industry he had known for three decades and started Green Monster 1 ½-years ago with his wife, son-in-law and daughter. His four other children also help run the company.
